Shanklin has much to offer for your holiday — the beach is a ten minute walk from St Martin’s across the Mead.

Stroll down to  thatched Shanklin Old Village, with a wide choice of Pubs, Restaurants, Shops and nearby is Shanklin Theatre.

The Mead is a recreation ground with children’s swings two minutes from the house through the woods, with the old church behind.

St Blasius Church has history that dates to the reign of King Stephen.  It has a renowned display of rhododendrons in the spring in so many different colours.

Shanklin Chine is a delightful historic gorge with a waterfall  that has a footpath that leads down to the beach. There is an exhibition, with a history of the wartime PLUTO.

Some of  these photos of Shanklin beach were taken before 8 o’clock in the morning. We cannot guarantee that these interesting bucket and spade sandy beaches will always be so deserted, but the long beach does have enough room for everyone.

There are 150 flower strewn steps down to the beach, which boasts a coveted Blue Flag award for clean beaches and safe swimming.

We can also offer a Holiday Apartment on the first floor of the wing to a fine house in Luccombe Road. The whole building has recently been completely renovated and refitted throughout to a very high standard.  It sleeps four, and comprises a living room opening onto a balcony that looks across the gardens to the sea, and two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

If you would like to share a holiday with friends or family, but do not want to be under the same roof, the two properties offer an ideal double. Ten minutes walk from St Martin's is our Clifftop Apartment  in Luccombe Road for 4 with the balcony, the sea views and use of the large garden, while St Martins for 8 has plenty of living space and the walled garden.
